Sutherland Behind Bars

This article appeared in the Los Angeles Times on December 21st, 2007 and discusses the actor of hit series "24" Kiefer Sutherlands jail sentence of an entire forty-eight days for driving under the influence. While the anonymous author uses sarcasm and much humor to make light of A-list celebrities' short jail sentences, the issue is of much more severity. The editorial mentions that celebrities are often sentenced to a certain number of prison or community service days, however, they sometimes fail to complete their sentence. A reason given for this by the author is the overcrowded county jail system run by Sheriff Lee Baca. It is also an issue that celebrities are given jail time schedules to fit around their recording, filming, and other job agendas. While it is obvious that celebrities are not like everyone else, it is still not justice to be lenient with their sentences as opposed to any other individual.
*Do you believe Kiefer Sutherland will actually complete his entire sentence? Or will this case be like any other celebrity DUI case?

I do not think Sutherland will complete his jail time. That's jus the way it is when it comes to celebrities, they get a slap on the wrist and go on about their bizness. He will find ans excuse to get out of it or end up paying a lot of money so he doesn't have to go to jail.pitiful lol

Its pretty obvious that Sutherland will complete any jail time. I totally agree with Arah, that's just how it is with celebrities. Celebrities are not regular ppl like us, they can afford to buy theirselves out of any situation.

i think at first Sutherland, like other celebrities, will try to get out of his jail sentence, but since many people have become more aware of this injustice, the jail system will probably tighten up, making it harder for him to get out of it.
