The Shadow of the Wind (p202-227)

Father Fernando tells what has been the most revealing story of all. He tells Daniel and Fermin the story of Carax's school years at San Gabriel's Schoool. At the school, Carax became good friends with Miquel Moliner, Jorge Aldaya, Fernando Ramos, and the Javier Fumero whom Fermin is so spiteful of. At the end of his story, it is learned that Fumero killed his very mother and tried to murder Carax but couldn't as Miquel saved him. Fermin and Daniel are shocked to find that Penelope might be the key to figuring out Carax. On their bus ride home, Fermin and Daniel review what they've learned an discuss other matters like life and love. When Daniel reaches his shop, he finds Bea staring into the glass window. She hands him an adress and tells him to meet her at four.
*Do you believe that Daniel and Fermin will look for Penelope's governess, Jacinta Coronado, even though they promised the Father Fernando.

The Shadow of the Wind (p179-201)

This section opens with Daniels story to Bea, which recalls the events that have happened in this story thus far, from his dream in which he could not remember his mother's face to earlier that day when he met Nuria-he left nothing out. He then takes her to the Cemetery of Forgotten books where Isaac, the man in charge, questions Daniels action. His night with Bea ends as they kiss and depart, not knowing when their next meeting will be. Daniel gets to the book shop that night and for the second time, confiding in Fermin, Daniel tells the story of Carax, Coubert and all else. After the revelation about Nuria acting as the Carax-Fortuny lawyer, Daniel and Fermin head out in search of information that explains why Nuria lied. Daniel and Fermin end up with Father Fernando, who went to school with Carax and Aldaya.

The Shadow of the Wind [pgs 131-154]

Daniel consults Dona Aurora and Mr. Mollins, the apartment tenant, and learns what could turn out to be vital information. Mollins explains to Daniel that the crucifixes in Carax's room were placed there by his father, Mr.Fortunys, because he considered his son "the son of the devil/sin". Reason being that Fortunys' wife had an affair with another man and there's a possibility that he may not be his offspring. He also explains to Daniel that Fortunys was distant from Carax, rarely spending time with him. Dona Aurora also tells Daniel that Carax was a storyteller, orally delivering his stories to different audiences but never repeating them more than once.
