The Shadow of the Wind [Pgs 1-26]

A boy Daniel awakes one day in June of 1945 in tears because he can no longer remember what his mother looked like. Daniels mother was taken by cholera after the civil war, leaving him with his his widowed father. His father, consoles his ten year old son and decides that it is time for him to know about The Cemetery of Forgotten Books. At five o' clock that same morning, his father takes Daniel to this sectret library filled with an endless number of books which have been forgotten over the years. Here, Daniel finds the book titled The Shadow of the Wind which "no matter how many books he reads, how many worlds he discovers, or how much he learns or forgets- he will always return." While the plot of this story so far focuses specifically on The Shadow of the Wind, many other forgotten books and their impact on different characters are referred to.

*Why of all the books in The Cemetery of Forgotten Books, do you think Daniel chose The shadow of the wind? What do you predict this book will reveal later in the story?

Daniel chose that book because the author wanted him to. lol j/k -- not really its true, but kidding in the smart allic answer.
Daniel chose the book because it called out to him -- as if magically. The story of the burning of the books by Carax seem to mean that Daniel may have to fight the person burning the books in a huge climactic even or ironically an anticlamactic event.

i agree with Manuel. the book called out to him. i think the reason for that is probably because he might have a lot in common with the characters or the plot of the book.
