Daniel consults Dona Aurora and Mr. Mollins, the apartment tenant, and learns what could turn out to be vital information. Mollins explains to Daniel that the crucifixes in Carax's room were placed there by his father, Mr.Fortunys, because he considered his son "the son of the devil/sin". Reason being that Fortunys' wife had an affair with another man and there's a possibility that he may not be his offspring. He also explains to Daniel that Fortunys was distant from Carax, rarely spending time with him. Dona Aurora also tells Daniel that Carax was a storyteller, orally delivering his stories to different audiences but never repeating them more than once.
*Why do you think Carax refused to retell his stories?
